Fuel cell product developer Ballard Power Systems has completed the commissioning and deployment of another 10 fuel cell-powered buses in Yunfu city, China.
This announcement follows last month’s deployment of an initial 12 fuel cell-powered buses in the District of Sanshui, Foshan, bringing the total number of Ballard-powered buses utilised in the North Pacific rim country to 22.
The new fuel cell vehicles have an anticipated hydrogen (H2) gas consumption of less than 6.5kgs per 100kms. They are expected to travel in excess of 300kms on one tank, emit zero tailpipe emissions and have remote monitoring capabilities.
Randy MacEwan, President and CEO of the Canada-based business, enthused, “Together, these are the largest deployments of zero-emission fuel cell buses in China’s history, but represent just the beginning of market adoption.”
