Ballard Power Systems has continued to make its mark on the Chinese market after signing a $11m deal to supply 200 fuel cell engines to Zhongshan Broad-Ocean Motor Co., Ltd.
The definitive equipment supply agreement will see Ballard’s FCveloCity® fuel cell engines used in demonstrations of clean energy buses and commercial vehicles in key Chinese cities.
The engines will be manufactured and supplied from the company’s operations in British Columbia, Canada, with shipments scheduled later this year.
Randy MacEwan, President and CEO of Ballard, revealed, “Broad-Ocean plans to seize early market demand for fuel cell buses and commercial vehicles in strategic demonstration projects in key Chinese cities. This $11m order will be incremental to the expected $25m value of the technology transfer deal.”
