BCGA offers pressure equipment guidance under ‘mission safety’ focus

The British Compressed Gases Association (BCGA) has updated guidance which details the in-service requirements of pressure equipment for gas storage and gas distribution systems.

Produced in accordance with BCGA’s commitment to mission safety in the compressed gases industry, BCGA Code of Practice CP39 details the management process of in-service pressure equipment throughout its entire life cycle, in particular, to prevent a failure that may result in a hazardous release of stored energy, namely pressure.

The guide is of interest to a wide-range of sectors where gases are used, including manufacturing, education and campus, automotive, food and drink, healthcare and facilities management, as well as transport and logistics.

BCGA’s Chief Executive, Doug Thornton, said, “Pressure systems require regular examination and maintenance to ensure the continuing integrity of the equipment and the safety of personnel.”
