Bestobell Marine has secured two new orders to supply its range of high pressure globe and check valves to be used in high pressure fuel gas systems on board ships.
The valves will be used within the pump and vaporizer skids for six LNG carriers that are being built at DSME shipyard and also for two LNG carriers being built at SHI (Samsung Heavy Industries) – both in South Korea and due to be fitted with the MAN ME-GI engine.
Bestobell Marine’s high pressure cryogenic globe valves will be fitted in the pipework downstream of the high pressure pumps and will play a vital part in managing the fuel gas supply to the engine.
The orders represent a significant upturn in demand for high pressure cryogenic valves for marine applications, as Sales Director Duncan Gaskin explained, “With the introduction of the MAN ME-GI engine two years ago and with now over 100 sold, it is driving a rapid increase in demand for high pressure cryogenic valves for fuel gas systems.”
