BOC Sureserve award recognises cellar safety

The licensees of a Winchester-based pub in the UK, The Ship Inn, have been recognised for their diligence by BOC Sureserve and described themselves as ‘over the moon’, after winning a new award promoting good cellar management and gas safety.

Despite Becci Rawlins and Adrian Broome having only one full year as licensees under their belt, they secured the Safe Cellar Award run by the drinks dispense gases specialist BOC Sureserve.

BOC Sureserve product manager, Carl Goode, said of the award, “Three things that particularly impressed the judges were the storage, with cylinders kept separately and chained to walls, a clear floor space free of equipment or debris and the good level of lighting throughout.”

Winning licensee Broome commented, “Understanding the gases side of the cellar is crucial to maintaining the high quality of drink we serve to customers but also means we and our staff can work safely in the cellar.”
