BOC to increase liquid CO2 in the U.S

BOC are to increase the amount of liquid carbon dioxide available to natural gas producers from their new plant in west Texas.

The new 200 tonne per day plant is located in McCamey and began operating early this month. The liquid CO2 is used by natural gas producers to boost production from wells in the South Permian Basin, which is said to be the largest fracturing market in the U.S.

Liquid CO2 is injected under high pressure into newly drilled and existing wells to fracture formations deep underground and facilitate gas flow from the reserves.

National Manager of Oil Field Services, John Miller says the new plant improves customer satisfaction, “BOC is making this investment so we can better assist our customers in securing steady sources of energy. The additional plant allows us to respond quicker to customer demand, improve customer service and increase supply reliability.”
