BOC unveils new MAP prototype at FOODEX

Linde Group subsidiary, BOC is set to showcase a number of new releases at this year’s FOODEX trade show later this month, leading with a leak-detection prototype.

FOODEX 2012, scheduled to run from 25th-27th March at Birmingham’s NEC is the UK trade show for the processing, packaging and logistics of food. Occupying stand T320, BOC will use the opportunity to unveil the prototype in-line leak detection system, as well promoting its MAPAX® Modified Atmosphere Packaging (MAP) range alongside its cryogenic freezer line.

The prototype device is designed to ensure packaging integrity, especially for fresh and chilled MAP foods. According to BOC, packaging failures not only impact supply chain efficiency, but also cause premature food spoilage.

The device itself uses hydrogen gas to test packaging for flaws or leaks. The prototype has been designed to provide complete in-line assessment of each individual pack, with immediate leak identification.
