The shipping company Aktien-Gesellschaft EMS (AG EMS) and Bomin Linde LNG have signed the first contract for the delivery of LNG in Germany.
The deal proposes supplying environmentally friendly LNG as fuel to the MS Ostfriesland passenger ferry operated by AG EMS, starting in mid-2014 after her retrofit.
Located in Hamburg, Germany, Bomin Linde LNG GmbH & Co. KG is a leading provider of LNG as fuel for the marine market, a joint venture between Linde AG and Bomin Deutschland GmbH & Co. The venture has a broad range of expertise in refrigeration engineering, logistics and refuelling technology, and a strategy to cover the complete LNG value chain from sourcing and transport through to storage, distribution and bunkering ships.
With Bomin Linde LNG currently completing the final preparations in planning the construction of the bunker terminals in Hamburg and Bremerhaven, this new delivery contract is seen as a big step in towards using LNG as a marine fuel in Germany.
