BP, NYK Line cooperate to decarbonise ‘hard-to-abate’ sectors with future fuels

Energy giant BP and Japanese shipping firm NYK Line have allied to help reduce harmful emissions in hard-to-abate sectors such as shipping and industry.

The companies will work together to meet long-term decarbonisation goals by identifying opportunities for future fuels within shipping such as liquefied natural gas (LNG), biofuels, ammonia and hydrogen to support the energy transition.

The collaboration comes following a recent signing by BP on a long-term LNG agreement through its Singapore operations.

Stating that the two companies have a combined experience of almost 250 years working in the shipping sector, William Lin, EVP Regions, Cities and Solutions, BP, also said, “By bringing together our technical expertise, understanding of the supply chain, and insights from our customers, I am confident that together we can do more to drive change at pace in hard-to-abate sectors.”
