Brunei ready to supply beyond 2013

Participating at GASECH 2008, the 23rd International Conference & Exhibition for the LNG, LPG and Natural Gas Industries, in Thailand during mid March, Brunei LNG demonstrated its exhibition space and delivered the message that it is ready to continue with its successful foray in the LNG business beyond the expiry of key contracts in 2013.

Held at the Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Centre from 10th – 13th March, GASTECH 2008 gave Brunei LNG Sdn Bhd (BLNG), as the main representative of Brunei Darussalam, the opportunity to show its eagerness to remain in the industry long into the future.

BLNG in collaboration with the Office of the Minister of Energy, Brunei National Petroleum Company Sdn Bhd (PetroleumBRUNEl), Brunei Shell Petroleum Company Sdn Bhd (BSP), Block B Joint Venture (BBJV), Brunei Shell Tankers Sdn Bhd (BST) and Brunei Gas Carriers Sdn Bhd (BGC), put in a collective showing under a single Brunei Darussalam exhibition pavilion. As an LNG exporter of more than 35 years, Brunei Darussalam is believed to have seen GASTECH 2008 as an excellent opportunity to announce and showcase the country’s readiness for more LNG business beyond 2013, when its current supply contracts to Japan and South Korea expire.

Today’s energy industry is witnessing the effects of high oil prices and a possible peaking of global oil production, according to the keynote address of the Minister of Energy, Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Utama Dato Seri Setia Awang Hj Yahya.
