California Energy Commission approves more than $2m for operation and maintenance of hydrogen stations

California is set to benefit from more than $2m of funding from the California Energy Commission for the continued operation and maintenance of 16 hydrogen (H2) refuelling stations located throughout the state.

The energy commission approved more than $2m for the publicly accessible existing H2 stations located from San Diego to Truckee. The funds come from it’s Alternative and Renewable Fuel and Vehicle Technology programme, which invests in advanced alternative and renewable fuels and vehicle technologies.

H2 stations are key to achievening Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr.’s target to place five million zero-emission vehicles on California roads by 2030. The Governor’s Executive Order calls for 200 H2 stations by 2025.
