A new survey conducted by Gulf Energy Information (GEI) has revealed that a strong majority of its respondents in the hydrocarbon industry anticipate carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS) to be a ‘mainstay’ of their industry.
Conducted by carbon capture specialist Carbon Clean, the survey also saw nearly two thirds of respondents identify hydrocarbon processing plants, including refineries, as being most suited for CCUS deployment.
Over 90% of respondents said that reducing carbon emissions is either a top three priority or an increasing priority within their business, reflecting the increasing global focus on decarbonisation and low-carbon technologies.
Identifying Europe and the US as the regions in which CCUS deployment will increase the most in the future, the survey showed that 80% of respondents wanted to know more about the technology and were interested in exploring CCUS for their business.
