Carbon-neutral alcohol just got bigger and better; Air Company secures $30m to scale-up production

Air Company, the firm behind the world’s first alcoholic beverage made directly from carbon dioxide (CO2), is going to ramp up the production of its carbon-neutral vodka with a brand-new state-of-the-art factory that will feature its largest commercial-scale carbon utilisation system.

The New York-based firm this week (19th April) unveiled its scale-up ambitions, stating that its new site’s system will be dedicated to increasing both the production of CO2-derived ethanol and sustainable fuels.

Furthering enhancing its ability, Air Company has also closely worked with NASA to demonstrate application of its technology for space exploration by creating sugars and proteins from their alcohols.
