UK energy infrastructure development company Carlton Power (Carlton) has reached an ‘important milestone’ in the development of the 200 megawatt (MW) Trafford Green Hydrogen scheme after it secured planning permission for Greater Manchester’s first low-carbon hydrogen fuel hub.
Having received planning consent from the Trafford Council local authority, the £300m scheme – located in Carlton Power’s Trafford Low Carbon Energy Park – is now the country’s largest consented green hydrogen scheme.
First announced in March 2021, the project aims to level up low carbon generation and strengthen energy security in the North West.
