Catalytic cracker contract awarded

The Chiyoda Corporation of Japan has announced its successful contract award by Shell Eastern Petroleum (Pte) Ltd (SEPL) for the engineering, procurement service and construction management of the Long Residue Catalytic Cracker Unit (LRCCU) Revamp Project in Singapore.

The contract for the catalytic cracking unit, involving the breaking down of large hydrocarbon molecules into smaller, stable molecules, has been awarded by SEPL as a company of the Royal Dutch Shell group in Singapore.

The Front End Engineerinf Design was completed by Chiyoda Singapore (Pte) Ltd (CSL), a subsidiary of Chiyoda Corporation, and will be executed with Chiyoda as the prime contractor and CSL as the nominated sub-contractor.

Martijn A. van Koten, SEPL general manager, Bukom Site, was present at the contract signing and commented, $quot;We are pleased to have appointed Chiyoda as our EPCm contractor and look forward to the successful implementation of the project. Chiyoda constructed the plant in 1990 and was involved in subsequent revamps of the unit. I am confident their experience will be beneficial to this project.$quot;
