A University in the Northeast United States is expected to save millions of dollars and significantly reduce the carbon footprint at its campus over the next few years, by converting its back-up fuel from diesel to clean burning natural gas through a turnkey solution engineered and built by Chart Inc.
The regasification unit stores LNG in three 18,000 gallon cryogenic tanks and revaporizes it for use, on-demand during peak times, to supplement the pipeline supplying the central heating plant for the entire campus.
Completely engineered and built in house, the solution features Chart vacuum technology®, a proprietary superior insulation system including cryogenic storage tanks, Thermax vaporizers and vacuum insulated pipe.
The fully modularised unit enables easy, fast and cost efficient installation with on-site commissioning and training completed inside three days, ensuring it was operational for the start of the 2016-17 heating season.
