Chevrolet’s Equinox delivered to DOE

The US Department of Energy (DOE) has taken delivery of a Chevrolet Equinox fuel cell electric vehicle, adding to its fleet of alternative fuel and advanced technology vehicles – while also aiding research into the viability of such technology in the vehicle market.

The vehicle is part of Chevrolet’s ‘Project Driveway’, a market test helping to bring fuel cell electric vehicle technology to market.

For the next six months, DOE employees will use the Equinox to conduct day-to-day business, while sharing real-world performance data. The program has placed more than 100 similar vehicles with a variety of drivers in Southern California, metropolitan New York, and Washington, D.C.

Cheryl Catton, General Director of Chevrolet Marketing, commented, “We’re pleased to have the DOE join in this important endeavour to speed advanced technologies to consumers.”
