Companies team up to produce industrial gas

France’s Air Liquide, and the UK-registered copper mining company Kazakhmys, have signalled their intent to work together to produce industrial gases – although talks are at an early stage.

The partnership would enable Kazakhmys, whose main assets are located in Kazakhstan, to reduce the costs of being a copper producer.

The power producing oxygen is a big cost for the company. But it hopes to work with Air Liquide to mitigate this, by using the high-end technology possessed by the French company.

According to a company spokesman, in an interview with Tengri News, there are a “number of options” in the cooperation and that the agreement “could be finalised in late May”.
