Cummins advances low-to-zero carbon tech; joins Hydrogen Engine Alliance

Power solutions provider Cummins is looking to decarbonise industry and accelerate its development of low-to-zero carbon emission technologies following its joining of the Hydrogen Engine Alliance (HEA).

Utilising its experience in both internal combustion engine and hydrogen fuel cell development, Cummins has been working to advance low carbon technologies through initiatives such as its fuel-agnostic engine range project and a partnership with NPROXX to integrate hydrogen engines with onboard gas tanks. 

By becoming a member of the HEA, Cummins joins the likes of Bosch, Daimler Truck, and Karlsruhe Institute of Technology in a drive to help advance the research and development of sustainable hydrogen engine technology. 

Commenting on the commitment, Jonathan Atkinson, Executive Director, Cummins, On-Highway Europe, said, “Internal combustion engines are efficient, robust, and can operate continuously under heavy load – attributes that will carry forward with hydrogen fuel.”
