Ballard Power Systems, focusing its efforts in the forklift and back-up power markets, has signed a two-year agreement with a Danish company to supply fuel cells for products developed in the materials handling market, the company said in recent weeks.
Though financial terms of the deal with H2 Logic A/S were not released, under the deal, H2 Logic will integrate Ballards’ fuel cells into hybrid systems for various materials handling vehicles, including forklifts.
Mike Rosenberg, Ballard’s Director of Materials Handling, commented on the deal, “This is our first strategic relationship with a European system integrator actively engaged in this market. While volumes under this supply agreement will be small initially, we see strong growth potential with H2 Logic.”
Ballard, which has signed a deal to sell its automotive fuel cell assets to Daimler AG and Ford Motor Co, has focused on the forklift and back-up power markets in recent quarters rather than on developing hydrogen solutions for the wider vehicle and transport industry.
