Donation announced by world-leading gases group

Air Liquide has declared that it has donated R231 870,00 to Amcare, an Alberton-based charity organisation, which will assist the organisation in the construction of an Amcare Clinic at their premises in Alberton for administering basic healthcare.

Amcare plans to open the clinic by the end of June 2008 and the organisation’s Public Relations Manager, Jo Visser, commented, “Aside from the clinic, we are also involved in the community by providing training programmes, skills creation, healthcare, childcare and job creation. We sincerely wish to thank Air Liquide for its generous contribution and for its ongoing support and commitment to Amcare.”

Speaking on behalf of Air Liquide, Derek Wilson, Air Liquide’s Human Resources Director, said, “It is our understanding that one of Amcare’s philosophies is to involve the surrounding community, and that currently there are 38 care-givers from the surrounding community assisting Amcare. This philosophy mirror’s Air Liquide’s Corporate Social Investment policy which is also aimed at making a meaningful and sustained contribution to the community in which Air Liquide is situated.”

“Although our contribution is monetary, you may rest assured that we are committed to a sustained relationship with the Amcare Clinic with regard to future assistance, whether it is in the form of Air Liquide services, products or even staff,” Wilson added.
