DragonIS shortlisted for major award

Dragon Infrastructure Solutions, one of the UK’s leading independent connections providers (ICPs), has been shortlisted for the prestigious UK Energy Innovation Awards.

The company is a finalist in the Best High Growth Company category in recognition of its rapid development.

In the past year DragonIS, which connects construction projects to the national grid, has expanded its services, becoming GIRS accredited for gas as well as electricity. As a result it is one of only three ICP’s who can handle connections up to 132kV of electricity and 2-bar pressure gas (2,000mbar). It has also worked with nearly all of the UK’s leading construction companies, has connected 13% of the UK’s large scale solar projects and is contracted to have connected 25% of the UK’s ground mounted solar by March 2015.

DragonIS has not only grown rapidly, it has innovated too. In 2014 it introduced the Dragoncam. This is a special underground monitoring system which checks the inside of cable ducts for ridges and damage. Ideal for use on construction projects, it saves developers and DNOs thousands of pounds by removing the risk of having to dig up damaged cable. The family run organisation has also been involved in major projects such as completing a record-breaking, 17km of underground tunnelling, using advanced directional drilling techniques and the largest rock drill in Europe.
