EIGA’s Summer Session 2008

After the 2007 Session that took place in Istanbul, Turkey, the Summer Session 2008 was organised by the Italian National Delegation in romantic Venice and more precisely, at the Westin Excelsior Hotel on the Lido Island in the lagoon of Venice.

The EIGA Summer Sessions are a traditional occasion where the EIGA members not only hold their Annual General Assembly but also share their views on Safety, Environment, Standards and Regulations issues relevant to the industrial and medical gases business. This year approximately 200 delegates and their partners had registered from around 25 European and Middle East countries.

The Summer Session kicked-off with a full day meeting for the Industrial Gases Council (IGC) and the Medical Gases Council (MGC), with both councils hosting guests from the Compressed Gas Association (CGA), as the US/Canada sister association. In the afternoon, the Board of Directors (BoD) held its second meeting of this year.

Welcome reception
After a long working day for the members of the Councils and the Board, the whole party of delegates and partners embarked to the main island of Venice for the Welcome Reception and Dinner at the Scuola Grande San Giovanni Evangelista, one of the most famous ‘scuole’ of Venice founded in the thirteenth century. The Vice President of EIGA, Guy Salzgeber of Air Liquide, greeted all participants and wished a prompt recovery to the EIGA President, Stefan Messer of the Messer Group – absent due to health problems.
