Electronics Fluorocarbons scientist receives American Chemical Society National Award

Electronic Fluorocarbons’ Chief Scientist, Bob Syvret, has been awarded the 2020 American Chemical Society National Award for Creative Work in Fluorine Chemistry, making him the second industrial chemist to receive the award since its annual inception in 1972.

Syvret led the technical development Selectfluor® fluorination agent in the mid-90s. His efforts enabled the commercial production of 6-position cortical steroids, the most widely used member being fluticasone propionate.

His work in electronics contributed to the development of fluorination process chemistry for production of high purity electronics materials; including two high-volume fluorinated materials NF3 and C4F6.
