Energous Corporation and Sensirion have joined forces to develop wirelessly powered carbon dioxide (CO2) sensors for indoor air quality improvement in industrial and commercial environments.
In a deal signed on Monday (14th Nov), the partners said they will combine Energous’ wireless power transfer technology and Sensirion’s CO2 sensors for a product that will have consistent power delivered wirelessly.
Cesar Johnston, CEO of Energous, said, “CO2 sensors are being deployed in larger numbers in both industrial and commercial settings but are often located far away from central power sources and in locations that are hard to reach, limiting their ability to effectively monitor air quality.”
Johannes Winkelmann, Product Director Developer Experience of Sensirion, added that the collaboration will help solve a critical challenge in the CO2 sensor market and increase building energy-efficiency. Sensirion’s sensors can reduce building energy consumption by 10%.
