Brazilian developer Casa dos Ventos Energias Renovaveis (CDV) and energy efficiency specialist Comerc Eficiencia have signed a deal with Pecem Industry and Port Complex (CIPP) to develop a green hydrogen and ammonia plant in the state of Ceará, in Northeastern Brazil.
Signed on Monday (5th Dec), the pre-contract will see the project partners advancing to the environmental licensing and basic project phase.
Having been under development since 2021, the facility will have an electrolyser capacity of up to 2.4GW (gigawatts), producing more than a thousand tonnes of hydrogen per day and 2.2m tonnes of green ammonia per year.
By generating green hydrogen instead of grey hydrogen, the partners aim to avoid the emission of up to 430,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) per month.
