An agreement has been signed between energy company, Eni, the Egyptian Electricity Holding Company (EEHC) and the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) to assess the feasibility of technical and commercial aspects of projects for hydrogen production in the country.
Joint studies will be conducted into projects involving the production of green hydrogen, using renewable energy sources, and blue hydrogen, through storage of carbon dioxide in depleted natural gas fields.
The potential local market consumption of hydrogen will also be looked at during the study, along with possible export opportunities. Development and business schemes will also be examined.
