The European Commission and the Norwegian Government have joined forces to organise the European High-Level Conference on Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS), being held in Oslo, Norway today.
Building on the growing recognition for the necessity of increased climate action and the emerging momentum for low carbon emission technologies in Europe, such as CCS, the event will gather European climate and energy Ministers, UN’s climate chief, senior government officials, industry and NGO representatives as well as union bodies to discuss the role and future of CCS in Europe.
The conference will also be an opportunity to jointly address how to support the deployment of the technology to deliver Europe’s ambitious climate targets.
Chairman of the Global CCS Institute, and former executive director of the International Energy Agency, Claude Mandil, is speaking at the event later today.
