The Fuel Cells and Hydrogen Joint Undertaking (FCH JU) participated in this year’s Hannover Messe – Europe’s largest hydrogen (H2), fuel cells and battery exhibition.
This year’s edition features 60 exhibitors from 20 countries and an outside Ride + Drive area where visitors can test the newest models of fuel cell electric vehicles. Different topics and latest technical developments are discussed in the Public and Technical forum of the exhibition.
The FCH JU occupied a dedicated slot entitled ‘FCH JU supporting European SMEs(Small and medium-sized enterprises), accelerating technological breakthrough.’ Three SME beneficiaries of FCH JU funding; Elcogen, HyET and Hydrogenious, discussed the topic alongside the FCH JU Executive Director Bart Biebuyck. He underlined that SMEs are the backbone of the FCH sector in Europe, having the invaluable ability to innovate and adapt quickly. 25% of FCH JU funding has been awarded to SMEs, exceeding the Horizon 2020 target of 20%.
