Former Energy Minister Skidmore launches review of UK Net Zero goals

An independent review has been launched by former Energy Minister Chris Skidmore into the delivery of the UK government’s Net Zero climate commitments.

The three-month review aims to ensure that the government’s plans for a green transition by 2050 stay on-track to maximise economic growth while increasing energy security and affordability. 

Commissioned by Business and Energy Secretary Jacob Rees-Mogg, the review comes a year after the government published its Net Zero Strategy, which outlined a multi-modal approach to achieving zero carbon goals. 

Since then, an increasingly volatile economic and political landscape has placed huge pressures on both British households and businesses.
