Matheson Tri-Gas Inc has announced plans to build a new helium transfill facility in Newark, California, marking the company’s fourth helium transfill in the US and parent company TNSC’s fourteenth worldwide.
The Newark facility is expected to be operational by mid-September 2008, capable of supplying bulk gaseous helium and liquid helium to end-user customers and distributors, primarily in the Northern California market and at a time of tight helium supply globally.
John Bigham, Director Product Management and Global Logistics, Matheson Tri-Gas Global Helium, explained, “The Newark site was selected due to its close proximity to existing and potential Matheson Tri-Gas helium customers. We look forward to building our presence in this market.”
In September 2006, TNSC acquired the majority of the helium assets that Linde AG was required to divest by the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and the European Commission, as a condition for regulatory approval of Linde AG’s acquisition of The BOC Group plc.
