Fourth LNG-ready product tanker joins Crowley fleet

Crowley Maritime Corp. has inaugurated its fourth liquefied natural gas (LNG) ready, product tanker at the Philly Shipyard, Inc. (PSI) in Philadelphia, US.

A key feature of the ‘MT West Virginia’ is that it can be converted for propulsion by LNG at a later stage.

The latest 600-foot-long tanker joins sister ships Louisiana, Ohio and Texas, which were the first-ever tankers to receive the American Bureau of Shipping’s (ABS) LNG-Ready Level 1 approval.

The 50,000 dead weight tonnage (dwt) ship is capable of carrying 330,000 barrels of crude oil, refined petroleum and chemical cargoes. Petrol refining company Marathon Petroleum has confirmed it will utilise the West Virginia under a long-term charter.
