French terminal set for 2009 opening

France’s Fos Cavaou LNG terminal is expected to start-up in the first half of 2009 after a recent delay caused by an accident during testing, according to a statement from majority owner Gaz de France.

The terminal had been due to open in the summer, but the accident of 12th February will now result in a large part of the piping having to be rebuilt and the later opening date, as revealed by Gaz de France in a statement regarding its annual results.

The company owns a majority 69.3% share of the terminal which is being built by a consortium including Saipem, while the remaining shares are held by oil group Total.
