Air Products’ mobile hydrogen fueller is proving a hit in Columbia, South Carolina, where it is participating in a Fuel Cell Lift Truck demonstration project and providing hydrogen for 2 hydrogen-powered fork lift trucks equipped with fuel cell power packs.
Taking part in the 6-location project in the Greater Columbia Fuel Cell Challenege, the fueller is providing hydrogen for the fork lifts that are performing daily use evaluations across warehouse facilities in the greater Columbia area, concluding in December.
Tom Joseph, business development manager for Hydrogen Energy Systems at Air Products, commented, “This demonstration project highlights the capability of hydrogen as an energy carrier and another diverse application for hydrogen fuel cells. We believe hydrogen has both economic and environmental benefits for the materials handling industry. South Carolina has set some aggressive goals for using hydrogen and fuel cell technologies and we are pleased to be part of that effort.”
Air Products is a leader in the development of hydrogen fuelling technology and hydrogen infrastructure, with the South Carolina demonstration programme a continuation of the company’s work in the hydrogen-powered materials handling market.
