After a break of three years from his native German market Stefan Messer, CEO of the Frankfurt-based industrial gas specialist Gase.de, has announced the investment of €35m in an air separation plant to be built in Siegen, Germany.
The newly announced production facility is to be built on the site of stainless steel producer Deutsche Edelstahlwerke GmbH in Siegen-Geisweid and from the autumn of 2009, is expected to supply a total of 15,000 cubic metres of liquid gases per hour.
These gases will comprise of oxygen, nitrogen and argon and the customer to benefit the greatest from this supply will be Deutsche Edelstahlwerke itself. The remainder of the plant’s total hourly output of 9,000 cubic metres of liquid nitrogen, 6,000 cubic metres of liquid oxygen and over 300 cubic metres of liquid argon will go towards supplying the growing industrial manufacturing sector in the Siegen region.
By committing to such an investment with Deutsche Edelstahlwerke, Stefan Messer has secured a long-term partnership the largest privately managed manufacturer of stainless steel long products. With the investment, Stefan Messer has also laid an important foundation for the continuation of the family tradition after having sold the former Messer Griesheim GmbH in 2004 and since May 2007 operating in the German industrial gas market with Gase.de Vertriebs-GmbH.
