General Motors to ditch gas and diesel-powered cars

“Zero crashes, zero emissions and zero congestion” is General Motors (GM) vision for the future as the American automotive giant revealed its plans to end its relationship with gasoline and diesel.

In the next 18 months, GM will introduce two new all-electric vehicles and then a further 18 by 2023. Given customers’ various needs, GM says getting to a zero emissions future will require more than just battery electric technology. The new electric models will be a mix of battery electric and hydrogen (H2) fuel cell-powered vehicles. 

“GM believes in an all-electric future,” Chairman Mark Reuss explained, “Although the future won’t happen overnight, GM is committed to driving increased usage and acceptance of electric vehicles through no-compromise solutions that meet our customers’ needs.”
