A bio-liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant is to be built near the Germany city of Fulda, potentially saving up to 550,000 tonnes of CO2 per year.
To be built by German engineering firm Bilfinger, the plant will produce the climate-neutral REEFUEL – a clean fuel generated through the upgrading and liquefaction of biogas captured from municipal and agricultural waste.
Capable of fuelling up to 4,500 heavy-duty vehicles through its 180-tonne bio-LNG capacity, the Fulda plant – operated by REEFUELERY – can save up to 550,000 tonnes of CO2 per year compared with diesel fuel, according to Bilfinger.
“Bilfinger has previously proven to be a competent and reliable partner for us on other projects,” commented Jürgen Muhle, CEO, REEFUELERY.
