Containment system expert GTT has received an order for four liquefied natural gas carriers (LNGC’s) from its partner, Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI).
The vessels will consist of a 174,000m3 storage capacity, in addition to being fitted with the GTT Mark III Flex membrane containment system.
Mark III technology is a cryogenic liner used to contain liquefied gas at low temperatures during shipping, onshore and offshore storage, at atmospheric pressure.
The Flex system, proven in 66 LNG carriers and one floating storage regasification unit (FSRU), saw GTT receive a Bureau Veritas approval for its application on ice breaking arctic LNGC’s.
