Industrial gas solutions provider Gulf Cryo is working towards the reduction of the global carbon footprint via CO2 capture and utilisation.
Teaming up with oilfield service providers Halliburton and Schlumberger, the partners were able to transport more than 1,000 metric tonnes of liquid carbon dioxide (CO2) into the Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) Raudhatain oilfield before injecting it into the KOC reservoirs, releasing trapped natural gas and storing the CO2 safely and securely underground.
Commenting on the collaboration, Abdallah Dalab, General Manager, Gulf Cryo Kuwait, said that energised CO2 fracking is a ‘key solution’ globally to both reduce CO2 emissions and increase oil and gas productivity.
“We are proud to build on our deep-rooted experience and be able to offer such solutions that help reduce the global carbon footprint and thus contribute to the environment overall,” he added.
