HAM takes charge of Chile’s first LNG gas station build

Together with South American energy company Empresas Lipigas (Lipigas), HAM Group subsidiary, HAM Chile, has overseen the design, construction and commissioning of Chile’s first ever liquefied natural gas (LNG) station.

The new station will see the refuelling of a 35-strong fleet of LNG trucks, resulting in an 800-tonne per year reduction in carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions and an 80% reduction in fine particles.

With a focus on sustainability, Esteban Rodriguez, Business Manager, Lipigas, commented on the use of LNG, saying, “LNG is a real option for reducing CO2 in long-distance heavy transport, thus contributing to sustainable development.”

The result of a combined effort between Lipigas, Transportes San Gabriel and AB InBev, the station is in the Linares, Maule Region of Chile at Transportes San Gabriel’s facilities.
