Kasseler Verkehrs- und Versorgungs-GmbH and TÜV Hessen have joined forces with a wider consortium to collaborate with the Government of Hessen to form a hydrogen economy in the German state.
Messer Group, Heraeus Precious Metals, Infraserv, Mainova, Opel Automobile, Rhein-Main-Verkehrsverbund and Viessmann Deutschland, are part of the wider group and hope to accelerate the roll-out of hydrogen technologies in order for Hesse to achieve climate neutrality by 2050.
Since its formation in March (2021), the group has already received positive feedback and support from the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Energy, Transport and Housing and further headways have been made.
Focusing on the transportation sector, a number of 3.5-tonne hydrogen-powered delivery trucks are expected to be on the state’s roads by next year (2022) and work is already underway to see how green hydrogen for mobility can be affectively produced.
