Hexagon Lincoln, a fully owned subsidiary of lightweight composite cylinder specialist Hexagon Composites, has been selected by Daimler AG to supply compressed hydrogen gas (CHG) cylinders for its next generation of fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV).
The US-based business developed a new Type 4 generation of cylinders for Daimler’s new Mercedes-Benz GLC F-CELL, which will be introduced in 2017.
The company’s Type 4 CHG cylinders store H2 at 700 bar and boast a high-class performance in extreme conditions, temperature and fatigue situations.
Rick Rashilla, Vice-President Hydrogen Products, explained, “These are next generation cylinders for next generation vehicles. They are the result of research, development and testing with Daimler’s wholly owned subsidiary NuCellSys, a world leader in fuel cell and H2 tank systems for vehicle applications.”
