Horisont Energi joins forces with Koole Terminals in large-scale clean ammonia project

As part of the development of the first ‘world-scale’ clean ammonia project, Norwegian energy company Horisont Energi (Horisont) and Dutch bulk storage provider Koole Terminals will work together to develop a terminal and storage facility at the Port of Rotterdam, Netherlands.

The partners will explore the potential for storing ammonia produced in Norway and shipped to Rotterdam, in addition to researching the distribution of the gas to meet forecast demand in Northwest Europe.

The agreement comes after the announcement by Horisont that it will work with offshore oil and gas producers Equinor and Vår Energy to develop Europe’s first large-scale blue ammonia production facility, the Barents Blue project.
