Hospitals plan bulk storage-tank upgrades

Afrox says it plans top-grade bulk storage tanks at State hospitals across South Africa. having recently commissioned a bulk gas storage tank at Soweto’s Chris Hani Baragwanath hospital.
“A number of hospitals have been identified for bulk tank upgrades as volume usage has grown and we need to ensure security of supply with appropriately sized tanks,” says Afrox GM Lerato Mosiah.

“Higher storage capacity ensures there will always be medical oxygen when needed by patients. The margin of safety for running out of oxygen is, therefore, increased dramatically, ensuring consistent care of patients requiring oxygen,” notes Mosiah. The four tanks can hold up to 110t of oxygen at any one time, securing the treatment of patients and ensuring adequate back-up gas supply should there be a shortage of medical oxygen.

Dr Arthur Manning CEO of the Chris Hani Baragwanath hsopitals explains that the strategic storage tanks, will help in the hospital’s commitment to providing modern facilities and serving the people of Soweto. “The installation of these oxygen tanks is a critical step along that road,” says Manning.

The installation of the tanks marks another milestone in its growing partnership with the country’s State hospitals notes Afrox MD Tjaart Kruger. “The provision of these new bulk storage tanks will provide healthcare professionals and those in their care with security of supply, constantly monitored by Afrox, to literally ensure the hospital has medical oxygen on tap.”
