HOYER sets new sustainability targets

Family-run bulk logistics service provider HOYER Group (HOYER) has reassessed its current medium and long-term emissions and safety targets in-line with its focus on ‘consistently’ pursuing its sustainability goals.

With more than 80% of the company’s kilometres travelled during delivery in 2021 undertaken using less carbon dioxide (CO2)-intensive intermodal methods of transport, the company aims to reduce its transport-related CO2 emissions by 10% by 2025.

In addition, HOYER has stated its intent to reduce emissions from non-transport operations to reduce by 27% and transport-related tank-to-wheel CO2 emissions by a further 15.6% to a total 25.6% reduction by 2030.

According to the European Environment Agency, heavy-duty vehicles are responsible for approximately a quarter of CO2 emissions from road transport in the EU. Although fuel efficiency has improved, the increase in demand for freight transport have outpaced efficiency gains.
