HYCO Plant in Spain reaches 700 days uninterrupted supply

The production of hydrogen and carbon dioxide (HYCO) from Air Products in Tarragona reached at the end of July 700 days of uninterrupted supply.

Sent by pipeline to Air Products’ customer Repsol, the achievement is important as it surpasses the previous record of 450 days and strengthens not only the position of the HYCO Tarragona plant as one of the most significant in the world. The plant will also be a reference centre for high efficiency and reliability – according to a company statement.

This record of continuous operation means that the plant has been in operation supplying hydrogen 24 hours a day, 365 days a year without stopping, thus meeting the requirements of Repsol in Tarragona – which needs continuous hydrogen form gas produced by Air Products. The relevance of this finding is that the volume consumed by the customer is so high that it does not allow storage and supply is critical to the operation of its business.

This new milestone for HYCO in Tarragona is, “A good example of the quality of service of Air Products offers its customers and the company’s commitment to excellence, in line with the values that guide our business. Our ambition is to get our HYCO plant to reach production levels highest in the sector without interruption, ” according to Francesco Maione, CEO of Air Products Spain.
