The station generates hydrogen by using electrolysis technology separating water into hydrogen and oxygen – airport owners have been actively pursuing an alternative fuelled vehicle which can be incorporated into daily airport operations both on and off the airfield.
The award was from Airports Council International – North America. Ottawa Macdonald-Cartier International Airport Authority was also chosen for an award for its glycol Biotreatment System which prevents glycol from being released into a nearby river.
