Hydrogen Honda on display next year

The next generation of environmentally friendly vehicles is just around the corner and a glimpse of such technologies can be seen in the US next year, as Honda introduces its state-of-the-art hydrogen powered car in California.

Speaking at the LA Auto Show, the Japanese car giant indicated it planned to offer the zero-emissions FCX Clarity vehicle to customers on a limited long-term lease basis, for a cost of around $600 per month.

Tetsuo Iwamura, American Honda chief executive, said, “The FCX Clarity is a shining symbol of the progress we’ve made with fuel cell vehicles and of our belief in the promise of this technology. We are working to overcome obstacles to the mass-market potential of zero emissions hydrogen fuel cell automobiles.”

The expense of fuel cell technology, still one of the bigger hurdles faced in the industry, means that Honda is actually still a long way from putting the car into mass production.
