Switzerland-based cleantech company Hitachi Zosen Inova AG (HZI) has won a contract to construct a carbon dioxide (CO2) liquefaction plant for CO2 Energie AG (CO2 Energie), based in Nesselnbach.
The plant will be used to separate and liquefy CO2 emitted from an existing biogas plant, the biogas produced from the plant will then be used in industrial applications such as technical welding gas, gas extinguishing systems and inertisation.
With the aim of serving other sectors of the economy by upgrading existing biogas plants with CO2 liquefaction HZI aim to create a ‘fully circular’ economical model. The new facility will be designed as a compact, container construction capable of processing 4,000 tonnes of CO2 per annum.
