Indian professor files patent for safer hydrogen fuel storage in vehicles

A professor from Hyderabad-based GITAM University has filed for a patent for inventing hydrogen storage material to store hydrogen fuel in automobiles in a safer way.

Prof. M Saratchandra Babu has filed two nano materials for patent rights, and revealed that funding support for the research project had come from the Centre for High Technology, by the Indian Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas.

Looking ahead, Prof. Babu said that the Nano Technology Research Group is now planning to develop a hybrid engine with the help of the mechanical engineering department to suit hydrogen fuel vehicles.

For this project, the research group is approaching the Department of Science and Technology for support, gasworld understands.
